MISSION & VISION

Madieu Williams Foundation is a 501(c)3 that focuses on education and health for underprivileged youth both in the United States and in Sierra Leone. We have built a successful school in Calabatown for 372 students. Domestically, we run an after school program in Montgomery County Public School focusing on three areas; Academics, Life Skills and Physical Activity. We are committed to children's education and health.

Our charge is simple and integral to ensuring that under-privileged children recognize their value. We are equipping our children with critical tools and resources to inspire good stewardship, while strengthening the core of our communities. Our foundation specialized in academic enhancement, health and wellness education, which includes controlled fitness activities for under-privileged youth in the United States and Sierra Leone. MWF aspires to be the premiere Center of Excellence for Youth Enrichment and Empowerment; we recognize that our very existence is contingent upon our ability to pave the way forward to build a better future for our youth.

DIEU'S CREW

The name is derived from founder and visionary, Madieu Williams (Dieu), a former NFL player who considers himself to be a benefactor of selfless acts of others. This foundation program, Dieu’s Crew, was initially established in Minnesota (2008), while Madieu was playing for the Minnesota Vikings. It evolved from a Life Skills program that was initiated in conjunction with the YMCA of Greater Minneapolis as “Total Student Concept”.

Dieu’s Crew transitioned from Minneapolis to Prince George's County, Maryland, his home town as an after school program. The following tenets are included in the “Dieu’s Crew” portfolio: Academics Enrichment, Physical Activity and Life Skills. Student capacity is presently limited to 25, with plans to incremental increases throughout the program’s maturation.

PROJECT: Sierra Leone

In 2008 philanthropist Madieu Williams, funded the construction of the Abigail D. Butscher Primary School, which is located in Calaba Town of Sierra Leone. The school was named to honor his late-mother, a trailblazer in her own right who believed in the value of education. To that end, she recognized education to be integral to combating poverty in socio-economic deprived areas. Consequently, the building of Abigail D. Butscher Primary School was only befitting to honor her legacy.

Calaba Town was established during the reconstruction era following the ten year Civil War. Lacking basic infrastructure, the Calaba Town area was identified by Madieu as a community with promise that would benefit greatly from a school. The school was subsumed by MWF shortly after its construction to ensure its sustainability. Currently, the school is resourced at 100% by MWF and offers children of Calaba Town to attend school free of expense.
